What is Shell Shock?
Shell Shock was the reaction the soldiers had due to the trauma of the constant bombing. Now it is referred to as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This made the soldiers suffer from panic, an inability to use reason, sleep, walk or talk. The most common symptom was a blank stare, kind of like staring off into space. Soldiers would sit for long periods of time doing nothing but staring. Most soldiers that survived the war did not receive proper treatment for their shell shock and experienced this symptoms for many years.
